In 1929, the first radio broadcast of a professional golf event took place at the Los Angeles Open.

In 1938, Babe Didrikson Zaharias became the first woman to play in a PGA's men's golf event when she played at the Los Angeles Open.

In 1966, the Los Angeles Open was the first golf tournament to be televised nationally.
From 1926 to 1970, it was known as the Los Angeles Open. From 1971 to 1995, it was known as the Glen Campbell Los Angeles Open. Since 1996, it has been called the Nissan Open.
