Brockovich, starring Julia Roberts, was based on real-life events that took place in Hinckley.
Mariposa County — Here are a few of the films that have been
made in this county: The Caine Mutiny, Forever Darling, Giant of Thunder Mountain, Last of
the Mohicans, The Long, Long Trailer, Maverick, Mountain Men, Radio Flyer, Sacred Ground, Star Trek, 36
Hours, and Warpath.
Monterey County — They have

Milan, Indiana — The victory of the 161-student school in the Indiana state basketball
championships in 1954 was the inspiration for the movie, Hoosiers.
Iowa

Duke University — The wedding
scene between Natalie Wood and Christopher Walken in Brainstorm was filmed in the Sarah P. Duke
Gardens. A few other scenes were filmed in, on, or around the Duke
Chapel. Another important scene was filmed at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.
Durham, North
Carolina. — Primary location for the movie, Bull Durham. The subject of the 1950
movie, Brightleaf, starring Gary
Cooper and Lauren Bacall. The Handmaid's
Tale was filmed in downtown Durham and Duke University.
